Clay Artist

Wood Fired

Hi, I’m Brian Corry, I love working with clay and especially enjoy wood-firing ceramics, working at cone 10, which allows me to explore the intricate interactions between clay and flame. This technique not only gives each piece a unique character but also reflects my belief that art, like life, is a blend of chaos and beauty.
One of my greatest challenges as an artist is mixing my own glazes by hand. Diving into glaze chemistry, understanding the science behind the colors and textures that adorn my work. Each glaze is a combination of ingredients that I meticulously measure and mix, ensuring that every piece I create is both aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound. It’s a labor-intensive process,
I firmly believe that humans are inherently attracted to handmade art for several reasons. There’s something special about a piece that carries the unique touch of the artist—each creation tells a story, woven with tradition and personal expression. Unlike mass-produced items, my pieces offer authenticity and a genuine connection that resonates with those who appreciate art. The craftsmanship involved in creating each unique item results in an emotional and cultural bond that enhances its value.
As I continue on this creative journey, I’m excited to share my passion for ceramics with others, hoping to inspire a love for handmade art and the stories each piece carries. My goal is to create not only visually captivating pieces but also works that invoke a sense of connection and appreciation for the artistry involved. In each piece I craft, I invite you to experience the blend of tradition, science, and creativity that defines my work.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me and my journey as a ceramic artist. I look forward to sharing my creations with you and hopefully inspiring a deeper appreciation for the beauty of handmade art.
